To complement the VSLA model, Dependable Youth Initiative Uganda conducted financial literacy trainings across Busubi in Lwengo District and Kamulegu, Kyantale, and Kajjwa in Masaka District. These trainings focused on equipping youth and young mothers with essential financial management skills.

The training covered key topics including budgeting, saving culture, loan management, record keeping, and income diversification. Participants were also introduced to concepts of entrepreneurship, investment planning, and responsible borrowing.

Beneficiaries such as Lwesabula Brian, Nalubega Magdaline, Nankya Jovia and Kato Cosmas have demonstrated significant transformation. Lwesabula Brian has successfully adopted budgeting practices and started saving consistently, enabling him to invest in a small retail business. Kato Paul has improved his financial discipline, utilizing loans productively and increasing his household income. Nalubega Magdaline had adopted financial management and record keeping within her small retail shop and currently able to track her expenses and profits.

As a result of the training, participants reported increased confidence in managing finances, reduced misuse of loans, and improved ability to plan for future investments.
